Inside: Our relaxing Chicago Getaway experiencing the “Snowed Inn” package at Loews Chicago.
It’s been a hectic fall and start to the holiday season for my family. We were in desperate need for a some time to relax, unwind and connect. Chicago is always so much fun for our family and an easy weekend trip from our home of Columbus, Ohio.
Our Relaxing Chicago Weekend Getaway
And when we saw the “Snowed Inn” package at the Chicago Loews Hotel, we were totally hooked! It was everything we needed for a relaxing Chicago family getaway.
For starters, the location is excellent.
Located just one block north of the Chicago River and two blocks east of North Michigan Avenue, it’s the ideal spot to take in all the Windy City has to offer.
The Loews Chicago is a quick walk to the Navy Pier, Millennium Park, Michigan Ave Shopping, and the famous Chicago landmarks like the Bean, Hancock building, and Art Institute of Chicago.
It’s also a quick walk to one of our favorite Chicago breakfast spots – Wildberry Cafe! This little breakfast spot is hugely popular with tourists and Chicagoans alike, so try to head there early before the crowds. Their omelets are amazing and their pancakes are legendary. It’s one of our favorite family friendly breakfast spots in Chicago.
The “Snowed Inn” Package from Loews Chicago is perfect for families.
If you are familiar with Chicago winters, the “Snowed Inn” package is a dream come true. After a few hours exploring the area in the cold, nothing sounds better than getting cozy back at the hotel.
The Snowed Inn package includes:
- Overnight accommodations

Our Relaxing Family Getaway to the Chicago Loews Hotel
When we checked into the hotel, we were greeted warmly by the concierge staff. They made a point to welcome my 7 year old and make her feel special which I absolutely loved.
The lobby was stunning – on one side there was the lobby bar and ETA restaurant, and along the wall was a cozy fire roaring.
In addition to the complimentary hot chocolate and cookies in the lobby, around the corner was a full service Starbucks.
Our room was beautiful and had a fantastic view! The floor to ceiling windows were awesome to look out into the hustle of the city.
The room was impeccably clean and I loved the bath products in the bathroom. I’m a sucker for quality toiletries and the shampoo smelled SO good and made my hair shiny and soft.
My daughter loved the campfire set and the tent. It’s included in the Snowed Inn package, but you have to request it when you check in. They came right away and set everything up. She really enjoyed playing with it the whole time.
After we had settled in, we decided to head out for a bite when we noticed that the ETA restaurant had a social hour from 5-6 with half off cocktails and appetizers. Since our package included a discount at the restaurant, along with two free cocktails, we thought we’d stop in for a quick snack, but the portions were so generous it ended up being dinner.
We each decided on the social hour burger, and it was an absolute steal for $9. The burger was giant and well seasoned, and the fries on the side were tasty and crispy.
From the time we ordered until we received our food couldn’t have been more than 10 minutes. My daughter ordered macaroni and cheese off the kids menu, which came with a choice of side, and it was so delicious that we happily gobbled up whatever she couldn’t finish. #sorrynotsorry
The kids mac was absolutely perfect – creamy with all kinds of cheese and the noodles were nice and al dente vs total mush like you usually get with most kid’s meals.
After dinner we headed out to explore, and found ourselves over by the Navy Pier. We appreciated that we were given two tickets to ride the Centennial Wheel, and it was absolutely breathtaking riding it at night with all the lights of the city twinkling.
When we were thoroughly chilled to the bone, we headed back to our hotel to take advantage of the rest of the package.
We watched a movie while we decorated sugar cookies. The cookie kit included 4 sugar cookie cut outs, icing, sprinkles, hot cocoa for the Keurig and a small plate to decorate the cookies on.
For a night cap, we wandered back to the hotel lobby and took advantage of their fun hot chocolate special.
They were featuring a boozy hot chocolate, called “Getting Toasted.” They added Malibu and Frangelico, and topped it off with some toasted coconut and marshmallows. Mmmmm. Best part? If you purchased the boozy version, they gave you a complimentary kiddie version for your little one! Her version was called “Do It For the Graham” and was a hot chocolate topped with toasted marshmallows and graham cracker crumbles.
My husband ended up getting his own boozy hot chocolate.
We enjoyed our warm drinks by the fireplace in the lobby and just soaked in the ambiance. Then it was time for bed!
In the morning we spent some time splashing around the heated pool before we checked out. The pool was great because you could do laps and get in a good workout, or kids could just stick to one end and splash around.
When it was time for us to check out of the hotel, the Loews Chicago gracefully held our bags for us so we could explore Chicago before it was time to head to the next stop. We had such a fun and relaxing getaway in Chicago and can’t wait to return.
The Snowed Inn package was a ton of fun and I highly recommend it for families!
