Inside: My super simple recipe for magic pizza dough – a thin crust pizza dough with no yeast! Follow along as I share one of the favorite kitchen hacks for getting a delicious, homemade pizza on the table in 20 minutes or less.
There’s something pretty amazing about pizza night. Most families I know have their version of a pizza night. Sometimes that means stocking up on Costco frozen pizzas and pulling one out when you have zero time (or energy) to whip up anything else. Sometimes it means picking up your cell and placing an order for your favorite pie from the local pizza parlor. And sometimes it means making something for your family from scratch.
At my house, I do all three, but I definitely feel badass when I whip up something from scratch. But life happens, and sometimes it’s just easier to pop in a frozen pizza. Just don’t turn the box over and read the ingredients because it may turn you off completely.
Look, I just want a super easy recipe for a thin crust pizza dough with no yeast, that requires no kneading, no waiting for the dough to rise, made with easily recognizable food ingredients, that cooks up faster than pizza delivery, tastes awesome, and uses basic ingredients that I always have on hand.
Is that too much to ask?
Luckily, this recipe for magic pizza dough delivers on all of the above. Exciting, right?
Magic Pizza Dough – Thin Crust Pizza with NO yeast
This recipe uses super simple ingredients that are staples at my house. Flour. Baking Powder. Salt. Plain Greek yogurt. Olive oil.
That’s it folks.
And if you have self-rising flour in your pantry, you can skip the baking powder and salt, because self-rising flour already contains those ingredients.
I always have a large tub of plain Greek yogurt in my fridge. I use it to marinate chicken before grilling, or to stir into a nice tikka masala. My little one loves it for breakfast with a little jam mixed in. We reach for it often to make dips for veggies, or tzatziki sauce, and it’s a great sub for sour cream in a pinch. Plus it makes a delicious French yogurt cake or Irish soda bread!
Plain yogurt is a must have item in my kitchen.
The other great thing about this magic pizza dough recipe is how quickly it comes together. Less than 10 minutes to stir together and roll out, and about 10 minutes to bake. Definitely faster than waiting for pizza delivery, and while a frozen pizza may take you about the same amount of time, this homemade thin crust yogurt pizza has simple whole food ingredients, unlike the questionable ingredients in most frozen varieties.
You don’t need a fancy pizza stone or cast iron pizza pan to make this recipe, but if you have one, by all means, use it! I just stick my pizza on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and it works just fine.
Plus my magic pizza dough recipe is DIRT CHEAP!

Magic Pizza Dough Recipe
This simple recipe for homemade pizza uses real food ingredients to whip up a delicious pizza in minutes. No yeast, no kneading, and no fuss. It's like magic!
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup Greek yogurt, plain
- 2 tsp Olive oil
Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
In a large glass bowl, mix together all purpose flour, baking powder and salt.
Stir in Greek yogurt with a spatula until a shaggy dough forms.
Using your hands, clump the shaggy dough together until you form a soft dough ball. If dough is too dry to clump together, add in water 1 tsp at a time until it's soft enough to form. If the dough feels too sticky, add in flour 1 tbs at a time until you get a soft consistency.
I use a really thick Greek yogurt and my dough is never sticky, but if you are using regular yogurt, you may need to lightly dust your work surface and rolling pin.
Separate your dough into two balls and roll out two pizzas, roughly 12 inches each for a thin crust, and 10 inches for a thicker crust.
I don't have a fancy pizza stone or cast iron pizza pan, so I just line a baking sheet with parchment paper, but I'm sure a pizza stone would make this even better! I add a tsp of olive oil to each baking sheet (lined with parchment) and spread around with my fingers.
Place pizza on top of lightly oiled baking sheet, top with favorite toppings, bake for 8-10 minutes.
Let cool slightly before cutting. Enjoy!
*The best way to measure flour is to spoon into a measuring cup and level off. If you scoop directly out of the flour bag, you'll be using too much flour as it gets compacted that way.
*This recipes calls for Greek yogurt, which is thicker than traditional yogurt. It will work well with regular yogurt, but you will have to add in a bit more flour/dust the rolling pin and work surface with a bit of flour to keep the dough from sticking.
Magic Pizza Dough – Thin Crust Yogurt Pizza Recipe in Photos:
I hope you enjoy this super easy and “magical” pizza dough recipe as much as our family does. We love the tangy flavor that the yogurt gives this crust and prefer it to the taste of frozen pizza. It’s a pretty sturdy crust too – we roll ours out fairly thin and overload with toppings and it holds up great.
I think the hardest part of my magic pizza dough recipe is wiping up the flour I spill on the counter as I’m spooning and leveling off the 2 cups of flour. I hope you’ll give this family favorite a try and let me know what you think.
Oh, and p.s. – if you have kids who like to cook, this is a great recipe for them to tackle. My 7 year old has a blast measuring and stirring it up and topping with ingredients. All I have to do is turn on the oven, and roll out the crust. Easy peasy. Dinner is served.
